You will learn how to boost your networking from a LinkedIn insider, which will be followed by a panel of experts in different fields including patents, scientific advisory, industry project management and scientific writing! Below is a brief summary of our panelists.
Vanja Roksandic, B.Sc
Account Executive for LinkedIn Sales Solutions
Vanja completed her B.Sc.[H] in Biological Sciences at the University of Windsor. After graduation she transitioned into several sales roles and spent the next 6 years at Hewlett-Packard, Medgate, and at LinkedIn, where she currently works. She will go through how to use LinkedIn to land your dream job. This includes how to set up an effective LinkedIn profile and how to use it to network, as well as how to use LinkedIn to search for jobs
Carmela De Luca, PhD, JD
Partner at Bareskin & Parr Intellectual Property Law
Carmela obtained her PhD from McGill University, where she conducted research in the areas of inflammation, signal transduction and virology. Next, Carmela earned a law degree from the University of Toronto. Carmela’s practice focuses on patent matters, including advising on the management of patent portfolios in Canada and abroad, the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the life sciences and the analysis of patent issues such as validity, infringement and freedom to operate. In addition, Carmela has experience advising on regulatory compliance.
Florence Rozen, PhD
Senior Scientific Advisor at Fonds de solidarité FTQ
Florence joined the Fonds de solidarité FTQ in 2009 as Senior Scientific Advisor. She began her career as a researcher in the therapeutic research laboratory of a leading pharmaceutical firm, and then went on to conduct medical research for two large Montréal hospitals. She subsequently moved to a large venture capital firm specializing in life sciences, where she served as Scientific and Investment Analyst, and Head of Operations. Florence holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from McGill University.
Mark Watson, PhD
Study Director at Caprion Proteomics
Mark started his career as a Research Scientist at GeminX Biotechnologies after completing his PhD in Biochemistry at Queen’s University and his PostDoc at Scripps Research Institute in California. He has 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and he is currently the Study Director at Caprion Proteomics, which uses proteomics and immune monitoring in drug development.
Khizr Rathore, PhD
Managing Editor at A.D.A.M., a business unit of Ebix.
Khizr is a Managing Editor at an eLearning company that specializes in creating training materials for the pharmaceutical industry. He joined A.D.A.M. in 2012 as a Medical Writer after completing a PostDoc in neuroregeneration and spinal cord injury.
